This article addresses the topic of Sultan, a 2002 Indian film directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The film stars Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor and tells the story of a young man trying to make it in Mumbai. The movie was produced by Subhash Ghai and Ekta Kapoor; released on 14 August 2002; grossed over ₹ 29 crore (₹2.9 billion) worldwide; and won six Filmfare Awards including Best Film, Best Director for Rakeysh Mehra, Best Actor for Salman Khan, and Best Actress for Amisha Patel. The film was remade into Bengali as "Abar Tora Manchit", in Tamil as "Kasi" and in Telugu as "Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana". The film is the debut work of music director Himesh Reshammiya. A modern-day interpretation of the ancient epic, "Mahabharata", "Sultan" tells the story of two cousins: Sultan Ali Khan (Salman Khan), a poor but honest villager, and King Bhallaladeva (Anil Kapoor). Sultan lives in the village of Pahadi, where he works as a wood carver. One day, while working at the forest, he saves the kingdom's queen (Amisha Patel) from snakebite. The king of Pahadi (Chandrachur Singh) wants to reward Sultan for his bravery but is too cheap to give him anything. He decides to give Sultan Bhallaladeva's crown instead, but the queen changes his mind by reminding him that Bhallaladeva will be furious if he finds out that they stole his crown. To prevent this, Sultan is made the king of Pahadi (he does not know that this was done because of his loyalty and honesty). Meanwhile, the queen's son Prince Ali Khan (Arbaaz Khan) has a dream in which he sees a chariot being pulled by four Prancers who does not bear the royal symbol on its flag. He suspects that Bhallaladeva is behind this and goes to his village to get Sultan's help. In the film, Prince Ali Khan believes that Sultan is the reincarnation of Bhallaladeva due to his chariot being pulled by four Prancers. In order to test Sultan's loyalty, Bhallaladeva appoints him as the Dutta minister and sends him to Dattapura, a small village in Chittorgarh State. The king of Dattapura wants Sultan to be appointed as the judge of the state, but Bhallaladeva wants Sultan to pass his judgment in favour of Pahadi. Sultan, however, gets drunk and is caught red-handed by the king's son. Sultan decides that he can no longer serve Pahadi because of this degrading job, but his loyalty is tested again when Bhallaladeva comes to know of his decision and sends a spy named Salim (Shakti Kapoor) to get Sultan back to Pahadi. cfa1e77820
